¿WHAT IS IT?
A urine infection is characterised by the presence of germs (bacteria) in the urine, with patients suffering the consequent discomfort. It causes a stinging feeling when urinating, pain in the lower abdomen, increase in the frequency of urinations, urinary urgency and the feeling of not having finished urinating.
It may be associated with blood in the urine (hematuria) or a turbid appearance of the urine. All of this is due to bladder inflammation (cystitis) resulting from contact with the infected urine. Various bacteria can infect the urine. The most frequent are: Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, Enterococco, Proteus, Corinebatteri, Pseudomonas.
